Highlight of the year: The tool that simplifies climate reporting

2024 is almost history, and for Visma Software Norway and Ducky, the past few months have been incredibly inspiring. In September, we launched a tool that simplifies climate reporting for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) by integrating climate reporting directly with your ERP system.

Why is it important that you report your greenhouse gas emissions? 

Climate and sustainability reporting is becoming increasingly crucial as EU requirements tighten and large companies must quickly adapt to meet these demands. This creates ripple effects throughout the entire value chain. For example, are you looking to participate in a tender, apply for financing, win or retain a large customer, and generally maintain a strong market position? Then, it will be relevant to have a climate report in place relatively soon.

The challenge of climate reporting for SMEs.  

Climate reporting is complex. Let's be honest about it. Many associate it with time-consuming, manual tasks and data collection. Moreover, many of today's climate reporting tools are developed for large companies and corporations. Climate reporting is simply complex, time-consuming, and expensive—and it's not sustainable for SMEs. The CEO of Ducky, Pål Berntsen, sums it up well:

"The point of the new solution is to make reporting easy and smooth for businesses of all sizes and formats. The reporting solutions available today are tailored for large enterprise companies that are legally required to report on climate. It's too complex for SMEs. You need a solution that fits you, your operations, your budget."

Visma and Ducky, therefore, saw a need for something simpler and better for the SME market. We decided to do something about it. A full 99% of Norwegian businesses are SMEs, and if we are to reach climate goals and adapt quickly enough, it requires that we spend time reducing emissions – not just reporting them. This tool was missing out there. One that makes climate reporting simple and quick – perfect for the budgets of small and medium-sized companies.

The solution was to join forces: Visma, Europe's leading software company, and us – the ones who have gathered climate data, insights, climate calculations, and followed the developments from the EU for ten years.

The tool integrates directly into your ERP system or by uploading a SAF-T file from your ERP system. The result? A comprehensive climate report, ready in under five minutes.

Many might think it's too good to be true. And, given how climate reporting has been up to now, we can well understand that. But it is true. The tool was launched at the Visma Tech Festival, and the response has been overwhelmingly positive. This is just the beginning—more integrations and updates are on the way, including those related to other requirements such as the Transparency Act.

For if we are to meet the climate goals – then everyone must pull in the same direction, and take their place. And to achieve that, it simply has to become easier to work with climate and sustainability. So that you can tick off the necessary boxes (climate reporting and climate accounts) and thus have a surplus of both time and money to actually do something about them.
