Connect Climate Reporting to Tripletex

What you need in Tripletex, which access the API key needs, and how to connect.

Climate Reporting fetches accounting data from Tripletex using an API user key. The integration only reads data and never changes anything in Tripletex.

What you need

A Tripletex subscription with integrations. Integrations are only available on the higher subscription tiers (Smart, Pro, Komplett, etc.), not on Basis. Account and user owners can upgrade in Tripletex.
Integrations activated in Tripletex. Follow Tripletex's guide How do I activate integrations with an API user key (in Norwegian only).
An API user key with the access described below, created on an employee or contact in your own company.

What data we fetch

We fetch the postings in the general ledger from 2010 onwards: date, amount, account (account number and grouping code) and when the posting was last changed. We calculate your climate report from this. We don't fetch details about customers, suppliers, employees or payroll.

Access the API key needs

The API key gets the access of the employee or contact it is created on. We recommend creating a dedicated employee or contact for the integration, for example "Climate Reporting", with this access:

Hovedbok/full tilgang til alle bilag (general ledger/full access to all vouchers) for the whole company. If the access only covers a department or project, your climate report will be incomplete. See Hvilke tilganger kan jeg gi innenfor regnskap (in Norwegian only).
Bruker har kun lesetilgang (user has read-only access). The integration doesn't need to write anything, so the key shouldn't be able to either. See Hvilke tilganger kan jeg gi for å styre påloggingstilgang eller andre avanserte tilganger (in Norwegian only).

Does an accounting firm keep your books?

The integration supports a regular API user key created on an employee or contact in your own company in Tripletex. It doesn't support the accounting firm's API user key for client access.

If your accounting firm has access to your company, they can create the key for you, but it must be created on an employee or contact in your company, not in the accounting firm's own company.

Create the API key

Go to Lønn > Ansatte (Payroll > Employees) or Kunde > Kontakter (Customer > Contacts) in the main menu, and select the employee or contact to create the key on.
Open the API-tilgang (API access) tab.
Click Ny nøkkel (New key).
Select the Klimarapportering application, or check Tilpasset oppsett (Custom setup) and enter "Klimarapportering".
Name the key, for example "Climate Reporting".
Click Opprett nøkkel (Create key).
Copy the key and store it somewhere safe. It is only shown once.

Connect to Climate Reporting

Sign up for Climate Reporting, choose Tripletex as your accounting system and sign in with Visma Connect.
Paste the API key and click Connect. We check the key with Tripletex and store it encrypted.
We connect you to the company the key belongs to, and create it in Climate Reporting if it doesn't exist yet. Setup then starts and we fetch your accounting data.

The key is personal and only applies to the company it was created in. Other users in your company connect with their own key.

Several companies

If you have several companies in Tripletex, connect each of them with a separate key. Click Connect another Tripletex company in your company settings. When you sign in, you choose which company to work with.

Error messages

Tripletex didn't accept the key: Check that you copied the whole key and that it hasn't been deleted in Tripletex.
The key belongs to a different company: When you change the key in your company settings, it must be created in the company you're working with. To connect another company, use Connect another Tripletex company.
The company uses a different accounting system: The company is already set up with another accounting system in Climate Reporting. Contact support.
The key has no access to the general ledger: Give the employee or contact Hovedbok/full tilgang til alle bilag for the whole company, and try again.
Your climate report is missing data: Check that the access covers the whole company, not just a department or project.
The integration has stopped working: The key may have been deleted, or the employee or contact may have been deactivated. Create a new key and add it in your company settings.

Changing or revoking the key

You can change the key at any time under Tripletex API key in your company settings in Climate Reporting. If you delete the key on the API-tilgang tab in Tripletex, the integration stops until you add a new one.
