Introduction to Ducky Consumption-based Climate Footprints and Indicators

In this article you will get an introduction to our Consumption-based Climate footprints and Indicators

When we buy goods and services, emissions are created both in Norway and in other parts of the world where the products are made. More and more municipalities, counties, and countries are using a "consumption-based climate account" to track these emissions. This account often shows the average carbon footprint per person, also called a "per capita footprint."

Ducky provides one of the most advanced systems in the world for tracking these footprints. It can even show differences in emissions between neighborhoods in the same municipality. This data is useful for climate planning and encouraging citizens and employees to take climate-friendly actions.

What is the data designed to solve?

For Municipalities and Counties:

  • Climate Planning: Municipalities and counties can use this data to see the big picture of their emissions. This helps with creating plans and collaborating on climate initiatives.

For Property Developers:

  • Greener Neighborhoods: Developers can use local emissions data to design and promote eco-friendly homes and neighborhoods.

For Consumers:

  • Personal Carbon Footprint: Knowing the average footprint of people in your area helps create an accurate personal climate calculator.
  • Climate Actions: This data shows how individual actions can reduce emissions, which we use in our climate competitions and for giving personalized tips.

How to Access the Data

We can provide data either through a direct download (CSV file) or an API connection, or through software partners like FramsiktNorsk bærekraftssenter or  Geodata.
